Week of Pictures: Chocolate Factory and Volcanic Lake

Howdy!
Hope you all are having a wonderful Father's day with your dad. :)
A couple weeks ago we took a family trip one Friday down to Sapporo where we explored a chocolate factory. It was a lot of fun, especially since the buildings and grounds were so whimsical and old fashioned! :)

What We Made: Yarn Scarves

The first time we made this style of scarf was with our second cousins when we were back in the States on furlough. Actually, it's the same ones we made the Morse Code Necklaces with! You can see what those scarves looked like in our new Simply Sisters pictures post.
For something fun to do together with our girl friends during Abigail's birthday sleepover, we decided to make some with them.

Hello! I hope you are having a beautiful day! :)

Last Sunday was Zebulun's birthday. He could not wait to open his presents. :D Victoria made him a vanilla cake.

Month full of Birthdays

You may know by now that our family has three birthdays in March-- Abigail's was on the 6th, Malachi's the 17th, and tomorrow, the 22nd, is Zebulun's.
As for me, I'm having a blast, because it means I get to make three cakes almost all at once! :) I really enjoy making cakes so it's a lot of fun for me! :)

Happy birthday Gideon!

Hello!!
First off I want to say I am so sorry for our inconsistent posting. We will try to do better. ;)
Now that I have that off my chest, I would like to say Happy Birthday (belated) to my brother Gideon who turned 11! :)
Take a deep breath....

Blow it all out!!

And no, even though it looks like his brothers are trying to strangle him, they really aren't. :) Daddy had classes to teach in the public school the morning of Gideon's birthday, so we had German apple cake and BLTs at lunch, when we also gave Gideon his presents and things.

---Side note....the German Apple cake was VERY good. I'm curious if anyone would like a post about it, with the recipe? Comment below letting us know, if you want the recipe, and we will be glad to do a post on it! ----

After lunch, we drove an hour south to Asahikawa, where we took Gideon to an indoor playground. We all enjoyed it! :D
You can't tell just by looking at it, but that entire area is like five levels of tunnel mazes. I won't lie...although I've been in it before, I always get a little claustrophobic-panic at the beginning, until I get used to it. Once you do, though, its a ton of fun!

Gideon is one of our quiet ones. He likes anything to do with sports, he always has his nose in a book, and he has always enjoyed drawing and writing stories. ;)

Then... Father's Day was yesterday! I don't remember if we did a post on Mother's Day or not... ( :^ ) But because we have some traditions in connection with Father's Day I thought I'd share them.
To start with, we always make a big meal. :P I made an apple pie, my dad's favorite, for dessert.

Also we have for quite a few years now decorated him a coffee mug. Here is a 360 view of this year's. ;)

This view you can see Zebulun, Josiah, and Gideon's art. :)

Malachi and Abigail's... (I just cracked up when I saw how big us girls made our stick figures compared to the boys... big sisters.... lol!)

Me, and my mom! P.S. I drew cowboy boots on my person. :P

Anyways, we have been enjoying this past weekend as a family! ;) It has been raining a lot here, and it has gotten pretty cool on some days...
Hope you are all having a LOVELY day!
Love in Christ,
Victoria
....leaving with a hope for posts to arrive soon......

Happy birthday...to Josiah and (very late) to Zebulun

Howdy!
The 15 of April is Josiah aka Joe's birthday. He turned 9 years old.
He has always reminded us of Curious George. He's pretty shy, but he's the corniest little kid out there! His latest favorite things are cowboys, and he has always liked his bicycles. Therefore,I made him a cowboy cake! One of my hobbies is cake decorating and I was eager to try out making my own fondant. While I didn't care for how it turned out (our tastes since coming to Japan 13 years ago has changed to where we don't like super sweet things very much), it was an interesting experience and I'm going to try to find a different recipe someday. :) It was fun to work with however.
The design was really last minute, and I worried that it looked too "Viking" but everyone else didn't think so, so that was good. :)

And it was only today I realized that I don't think we ever posted about Zebulun's birthday! He had his birthday three days before we left for Japan, and things were pretty crazy. I honestly thought I had gotten that post published, but I guess it was one of the ones I never got around to.
Zeb is very energetic and independent. He is also very smart. He learned his first two kanjis at age three. He likes to help people vacuum and ever since he got saved a couple months back, he loves to tell people about God, getting saved, or going to church. One time when we were staying around our home church, he told a young lady at a restaurant how good our church was. "We have a neat nursery too", he added. Lol!
Zeb on his birthday....Malachi likes to do snap circuits (electricity and batteries and what not...I certainly don't know how to work it) and he arranged them just so to play Happy Birthday for Zeb.

He likes little dogs and animals....(this is my aunts dog)

Especially his stuffed animals!

Have a great day! :)

Gone green

It just makes sense that Malachi, number three kid in our family, likes the color green best. After all, his birthday is on St.Patrick's day!
We always wear green for those two reasons. :) It's fun!
He is one of our comedians, a tech-geek, and cruncher of numbers and facts. He says it's fun. He wants to fly...as a missionary pilot, someday. He thinks space is awesome. And he has been surrendered to preach since five years old.
We girls are kind of proud of him :D

Flashback two years ago. ;) Victoria's "pride and joy" cake. It was really fun to make :P with the most delicious bugs we have ever eaten. :)

Speaking of bugs, some random news.... We just finished our last meeting, which happened to be a missions conference. At their international dinner, we girls ate some silk worms from Vietnam! Victoria thought it tasted kind of like dirt inside of a sausage casing... pretty bland, but claimed it was not bad. She says she could eat them easily as long as she had water to kind of moisten it but told the people they would be good with ketchup :D I, Abigail, liked them very well! I said if I lived in Vietnam and had them often I would like it a lot.
There was a lot of other interesting things there, too. In fact, many countries were represented that we had never tasted food from! Papua New Guinea, Vietnam, Germany, Scandinavia, Greece...as well as Chinese and Mexican. We also brought Japanese. ;)
Another miscellaneous snip of information...did you know Patrick of Ireland was really a Baptist? He held to all the Baptist distinctives, although with one of them there is a little question on for lack of information. At any rate, he definitely wasn't Catholic!! :)
Well, I warned you it would be random. :)
Have a good day!

Happy 15 birthday Abigail!

Happy birthday Abigail!

Thanks for being my friend <3

....and for being goofy with me...

And just hanging around together....

For loving your family and always ready to have some fun together...

For being a good traveler (after all, spending a year in a car with a cranky person would not be fun! :P)

For always being ready for adventure! (Picture below of us in the Elevator pod of the St. Louis Gateway to the West)

(Picture outside the Lewis and Clark caverns in Montana)

Thanks for being you!

Grow in God's Grace.
