December Favorites Round-Up

Christmas is almost here, y'all! With wrapping presents, singing Christmas carols and cozying up with steaming mochas, it has been a busy past few days. But we wanted to bring you all a fun post for today--a round-up of some of our favorites this December. It was a bit last minute (spontaneous me, lol) but we had fun browsing back through our Pinterest pins over the past month, discussing the various things we are really liking this Christmas season, and then putting it all together for you all. Every year we like to decorate our room for Christmas. This year, we've been quite busy so we decided to go really simple. And even though we made most of the decorations this year, it was really easy.

Simply Sisters: A New Direction

You've probably already noticed that our blog looks different. And not only do we have a new look, but we're heading in a little bit different direction, too. Less like a diary, more like a blog of DIY, recipes, photography, and inspirational life posts. We'll call it a lifestyle blog. ;) Check out our new Welcome page to see more on what we're about now! We're really excited about our new step forward and hope you are too.

It's still us... it's still our distinct voices in writing (although I hope that I've improved my own voice and style since when we started, lol!) Three years is a good amount of time for a blog, and we're glad for all we've learned through keeping it up. We hope to see Simply Sisters continue on, grow, and mature along with us.

September's Here!

September is here! Can you believe that? The cool weather has arrived and the trees are starting to change color. Dragonflies are flying everywhere and I found acorns a few days ago. :)

A Surprise

Nearly three weeks ago, on May 17th, Daddy and Mama went on a "date". Daddy told us the night before he was going to take Mama out for the day and they would leave at about 8:30 AM. He kept the destination a secret(from us kids at least) and said they would be back for dinner. Zeb was sad that Mama would be gone so long but she assured him she would be back that evening.

MK Spirit Week with Baptist Missionary Women

Howdy, my friends! :)

Guess what? It's MK spirit week. This is a week long 'event' that is organized and held by the Baptist Missionary Women blog for the missionary kids around the world. It's actually our first time to participate, and we have all been forming ideas on what to do and discussing our plans.

Bike Ride to Kenbuchi

Good afternoon, everybody!

A few weeks ago Abigail and I went on a bike ride with two of our brothers to a nearby small town, Kenbuchi, and back, which ended up being about a three and a half hour bike ride. Yes, we did stop for lunch part way, lol! It was a lot of fun, and I videoed during different parts to make something kind of like a vlog for you all! :)

Everybody likes sneak peeks, right? So today I'm going to give you a sneak peek into the life of an MK in Japan around this time of year, a couple sneak peeks of things to come in blog posts soon, and a who knows what else? lol!

Week of Pictures Six-- And then Spring Came

Howdy! I'm here with my long overdo week of pictures. :) 

I'm feeling pretty excited with summer coming on! We actually broke records here in Shibetsu for hottest April-- it got to 77F here this week, which is crazy! Our summers are always mild compared to many places, so it came as a surprise to us all. :P 

Josiah's 10th Birthday!

Another birthday has passed...this time it was Josiah's! He turned ten years old! 

What We Made: Yarn Scarves

 The first time we made this style of scarf was with our second cousins when we were back in the States on furlough. Actually, it's the same ones we made the Morse Code Necklaces with! You can see what those scarves looked like in our new Simply Sisters pictures post.

For something fun to do together with our girl friends during Abigail's birthday sleepover, we decided to make some with them.

Zebulun's Birthday, Daddy's Return, etc

First off, I want to thank everybody who wished me a happy birthday. It made me really happy and was very special. Thank you! :)

Last Sunday was Zebulun's birthday. He could not wait to open his presents. :D Victoria made him a vanilla cake.

Month full of Birthdays

You may know by now that our family has three birthdays in March-- Abigail's was on the 6th, Malachi's the 17th, and tomorrow, the 22nd, is Zebulun's. 

As for me, I'm having a blast, because it means I get to make three cakes almost all at once! :) I really enjoy making cakes so it's a lot of fun for me! :) 

In Memory of Meme

I'm writing this post in memory of my grandma, whom we called Meme. She went to be with the Lord on March 6th, 2015. 

Happy 16th birthday to Abigail!

Abigail is turning 16 tomorrow! :)

She is a great lil' sister, and I want to take the time to wish her a VERY HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

New Simply Sisters Photos!

 Howdy, everybody!

This post has taken us a while to write! We wanted to get new pictures for the blog since last fall, but.... let's just say it never happened. :P We finally went out and took some pictures in the woods next to our house last Sunday, ending up with both of our cameras dying on us-- (Read: we forgot to make sure the batteries were charged enough...on both!) 

Then I was having one technical difficulty after another trying to get them uploaded, and then downloaded, and then edited (Abigail's camera took them all on a blue filter, yikes! lol) ... don't ask me why I've been running into little quirks lately, because my things normally work really well. I guess it's just "When it rains, it pours" isn't it? 

Finally, I beat modern technology into submission... ha-ha! Ah, that was a good feeling when I found ways around every single one of the problems! So even though it's not like it's that important of a post, I'm thrilled to finally write this one up. :)
